The Charleston a Go-Go Summer School!
Just because school is out for summer, it doesn't mean you can't get your retro dancing fix with Charleston a Go-Go! This August we are offering four exclusive one-off workshops where you can learn a whole routine, from beginning to end, in one evening. Including some of the most iconic dances of all time, spanning the Twenties right through to the Eighties, there really is something for everyone. The only rule is it needs to make my toes tap and my heart sing!
As always the emphasis is on mood-boosting fun and escapism from modern life, and you can attend as many or as a few as you like. Whether you're a regular class go-er, are looking for a one-off chance to dance with us, or have never been before, everyone is welcome!

TUESDAY 9th AUGUST, 7.20 pm - 9.00 pm
"Heathcliffe, it's me, Cathy, I've come home now..."
Throw on a red dress and get ready to dance on the wild and windy moors, as we learn the ICONIC choreography to Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights. FUN FACT- this was the very first dance I taught myself as a child, I pretty much wore out the VHS! Little did I know then where my nerdy dance brain would lead me, or that Queen Kate would be having such a massive moment in 2022! It's liberating, joyful, and really quite silly. All of my favourite things!
TUESDAY 16th AUGUST, 7.20 pm - 9.00 pm
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the building..."
I'll be donning a (metaphorical) white jumpsuit and running a one night only Elvis spectacular to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the death of the King. Not only will we be dancing all our favourite Elvis themed tracks from our Sixties a Go-Go classes, we will also be dancing a rockin' jive themed choreography to Jailhouse Rock. FUN FACT- I am so in love with Elvis I had an Elvis themed wedding in Las Vegas, and to prepare we watched every single Elvis film in chronological order. My cat is also called... you guessed it, Elvis!

TUESDAY 23rd AUGUST, 7.20 pm - 9.00 pm
"Once you get here, feel the good cheer..."
I'm not sure how I have danced the Charleston for as long as I have without actually teaching this iconic piece of cinematic choreography?! I've certainly choreographed to it enough times! This workshop will be the real deal, and based on the actual choreography from the film, with a few adaptations, of course, as those kids were pretty speedy! Expect classic Charleston steps, including Bees's Knees, Applejacks, swivels and flicks a-plenty, not to mention all that soft-shoe shuffling. Perfect to indulge our vintage chorus line dreams!

TUESDAY 30th AUGUST, 7.20 pm - 9.00 pm
"Now I've had the time of my life..."
Just like at Kellerman's, we'll be joining hearts, hands and voices to come together at the end of summer with one last Dirty Dancing themed workshop. Get ready to strut down that theatre aisle as we learn actual choreography from the finale of the film, alongside our favourite Dirty Dancing tracks from our Sixties a Go-Go classes. I can't promise any jumping from stages and knee slides, but we will definitely be channeling those Crazy Swayze hips!
