International Women's Day 2026
Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site.
In honour of International Women’s Day, I am offering a very special charity workshop on Saturday 7th March. This is the perfect opportunity to come together, dance, and raise funds for incredible Sheffield charity SYEDA

WHEN: Saturday 7th March 2026
MATINEE: 10.30 - 12.30 pm - two spaces left
ENCORE: 1.00 pm - 3.00 pm - four spaces left
WHERE: Bradway Community Hall, 59 Bradway Road, Sheffield S17 4QR
WHAT:
I'd love you to join me for a two hour burlesque movement workshop this International Women's Day.
No mirrors
No pressure to perform
Just the chance to reconnect with your body and have fun in a relaxed, supportive and inclusive space.
From the spectacle of the Follies Bergere and la belle epoque in Paris, to the humour of music hall's Lydia Thompson and the Blondes in Victorian Britain, 'the showgirl', and women 'showing' their bodies onstage, has always enjoyed a rich and diverse history. For this workshop we'll be dipping our toes into the glamorous era of classic American burlesque in the 1930s through to the 1950's - think Dita von Teese, Gypsy Rose Lee and Bettie Page!
During the session we'll explore posture, presence and playful pin-up poses (family photographs will never be the same!), before bumping and grinding our way through showgirl-inspired choreography to classic burlesque tunes. For our big reveal, will learn SIX different ways to twirl a tassel!! (Don’t worry, this will be over clothing, which will stay on throughout!) Props will be provided, and laughter is guaranteed. All you need to bring is a great sense of humour and the willingness to embrace how fabulous you are.
This is a low-intensity workshop. All bodies are welcome, no experience is needed.
Regardless of your shape, ability or age, burlesque is for you!
HOW MUCH?
£15 suggested minimum donation
At least £10 from each ticket sale will be donated directly to SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association), with remaining money used to cover costs associated with running the event
DRESS THEME: As always, the key message is... you do you! If you do love to dress up, think retro glamour, feathers, sparkles, the world is your (opulent!) oyster. Or come as you are, because you're ace.
